You’ll instantly be charmed by its wood-panelled exterior, as well as its floor-to-ceiling glass windows and doors that lead out onto a patio area – perfect for beginning mornings with an alfresco breakfast or ending evenings with a celebratory sundowner. Inside, the open-plan living space invites you to relax and unwind amidst the home’s serene setting, while the comfortable bedrooms are ready to ease you into a seamless night’s sleep at the end of each night. 

When it comes to things to see and do, while away sunny afternoons in the communal outdoor pool or give yourself a night off from cooking with a meal at the on-site restaurant. Elsewhere, the Speelpark Klein Zwitserland amusement park is a short drive away, while the city of Venlo is 12 kilometres away and easily reachable by car as well.


Chalet Wishes

This modern, detached, single-storey home is located within a holiday park, on the banks of Het Zwarte Schaar and the river Ijssel. L-shaped and light filled, thanks to near floor to ceiling glass windows, this comfortable home features an open plan kitchen and dining cum living room complete with cosy fireplace. Sliding glass doors open out from the living room onto the terrace and surrounding greenery of the garden – the perfect place to relax or watch the kids play.

Promising fun for the whole family, this home’s holiday park location offers access to an outdoor communal pool and children’s playground as well as a guests only gym, sauna and steam room. Why not rent bikes or even a boat and set off on a little adventure? Alternatively, spend afternoon walking or fishing along the banks of the river before making a beeline for the park’s restaurant and bar come lunch or dinner time. For a taste of Netherlandish culture Zutphen, one of the oldest cities in the Netherlands is only 20km away. Home to 450 national monuments as well as historic castles, boutique shops and artisan eateries, you’ll be spoilt for choice when choosing how to spend your downtime.

Between cycling across the rolling fields, sailing along the steady water and strolling through the countryside, you'll never be short on adventures in the fresh air. Add in the playground ideal for little ones, on-site bicycle rentals and idyllic views and we think it's a winner. 

Better still, you can enjoy a cosy stay without leaving a big carbon footprint. There's no gas hook-up here – solar panels power the whole home – and it's a car-free resort, encouraging you to explore your surroundings on foot. 

After a wander, chill out in the stylish living room or take it easy and relax on the patio, instead. If it were up to us, we'd spend every evening out there, sipping cocktails and admiring the Netherlands sunset. 

Fancy a change of pace? Head to Hoorn, a quintessential Dutch town only 12km away. There you'll find independent boutiques, antique stores and Saturday market stalls perfect for browsing and plenty of restaurants to try when you grow peckish. We think it's an excellent option for a day trip. 

Markermeer Meadows

Lost in the Woods

Located on a tranquil resort surrounded by spectacular nature reserves, this contemporary holiday home is perfectly positioned for exploring the natural beauty of Otterlo. Designed to allow in as much natural light as possible, the interior makes use of floor-to-ceiling glass and sliding doors that lead out onto lush green gardens. Start your days by opening them up to allow the cool breeze to rush through the house while you enjoy a cup of coffee, before heading out to see what the rest of the resort has to offer.

The De Hoge Veluwe National Park is just 15km away, which is great for scenic walks and bike rides thanks to its diverse landscapes and wildlife. We're talking dense forests, grassland and sand drifts – ideal if you want to experience as much nature as possible in one place. If you don't feel like driving, however, the resort has a pretty lake running through it, where you can kayak or simply wander the shores and enjoy the scenery. 

When you return home after a day of adventure, the patio is the place to be. Turn on the outdoor fireplace, grab a blanket and get comfy on the outdoor sofa with a glass of wine, as the wind rustles through the flowers and branches around you.

While the home is just a five-minute drive from the town of Schaijk, or twenty-four to the larger city of Den Bosch, we think the range of activities will make you want to stay put.

Wooden planks frame large windows, where minimalist interiors look out to your front patio. It's the ideal spot for a chilled pinot grigio while the kids are entertaining themselves.

Speaking of which, they’ll love the on-site playground by the lake and in the forest, vast fields for running about, or an evening at the ten-pin bowling alley. They might even meet the children’s entertainers who saunter around in costume at various times of the year. But this exciting range of facilities is crowned by something that parents can also enjoy. Your host can help you to book canoes, power boats, and electric scooters, so you can zip around the countryside and waterways. Or, do as the Dutch do and hop on your bike to visit Lake IJssel, where you can try some watersports or visit one of the little beaches. And, you can also drive into the city of Hoorn in around fifteen minutes, to visit its pretty harbour and browse the boutiques. 

Fun O'Clock 

If you're a small family who loves exploring the beauty of nature, this cosy home is perfect for you. Nearby to Veluwe National Park and just a short stroll away from a lush forest, it's tailor-made for wholesome escapes in stunning scenery. 

The house itself is simple yet cosy – think floods of natural light radiating an open-plan living space. Velvet sofas and wooden tables bring a luxury element to the room, sewn together by light, wooden flooring.

If you prefer dining out, there are many restaurants in the town centre, serving both local and international menus. We suggest heading there in the evening after a tiring day traversing the rugged landscape on two wheels or two feet.

Enjoy long walks through the countryside, take a forty-minute drive to the city of Arnhem or sail away to Utrecht's marina.

Amber Oak

This cute lodge – one of many in the holiday resort in Callantsoog – is perfect for families looking for a wholesome escape on the Dutch coast. The crisp water of the North Sea and the golden sands of the beach are just a six-minute walk away, giving you unlimited access to days by the shore. 

The lodge itself is surprisingly roomy – find an open-plan living space which faces out onto the intimate garden terrace. Surrounded by colourful flowers and greenery, the tables under the veranda are an idyllic spot to watch the world go by. We suggest sharing meals there or just sitting in the evenings with snacks and drinks.

If you wanted to explore further than the lodge and the beach, the local area is blessed with scenic walking trails. Get your hiking boots on and discover the beautiful scenery, draped in vibrant colours and offering spectacular views.

North Lights

Perched on the water's edge of Lake Verre, this unique spot in beautiful Zeeland homes, sixteen villas, each with its own jetty where guests can bring their own boats. If you don't have a boat, from here, you'll be able to rent one on-site or simply relax and enjoy other water sports with direct water access to the lake. 

The impressive facade of this villa sets the tone from the moment you arrive, as its equally attractive interior invites guests to unwind with captivating waterside views wherever you look. So naturally, we couldn't think of anything better than serving up local culinary delights paired with quality wine amidst such a serene setting. 

There's a real sense of stillness here. Listen to the soothing water sounds as the boats set off across the lake from the jetty, or why not head out to explore the picturesque locale? Both Veere's and Middelburg's own centres are a twenty-minute drive away. Meanwhile, twelve islands in the wetland are waiting to be explored, alongside several beaches and water sports opportunities – all within short driving distance.
